 Dogs & Guns is a painting series about special characters like the mythological hermaphrodite. The character with two sexes and open clairvoyance, it is tragic, week and totally sophisticated for any age or period of time in human history.  Is a character that has to walk life in a high intensity emotional way because it is not easy to be a girl, it is not easy to be a boy, but being the two of them at the same time it must be more than painful. That’s the reason of being represented always in an extreme psychological attitude. About to commit suicide, all bitten up, in a sexual explicit spiritual way of transcend the flesh reality…

For any strange familiar reason, when I was a kid I had a terrible phobia to dogs. Children phobias are fear projected to a psychic external object. Related to the father figure in Oedipus Freudian theories.

In this paintings dogs are the brothers, as the symbolical way that humans have to recognize dogs as the filial love, the faithful and the best friend, the loyal the protector. Dogs are the sisters, the company, and the shadows that are summoned by the smell of blood, of the mythological bleeding of a transcendent non-human spirit. The dogs, at “The incestuous lover” that are approaching to smell and know, and that could be the eclipse of aggression and youngness, the mixture of a lightly innocent figure with any possibility of danger under its golden skin.

That might be the dog; an unconscious symbol of a lost unknown father, and this, lead us to the guns and the Freudian dream analysis of phallic and aggressive objects.

Dogs that must be killed by steely phallus, and companion sisters, daughters of a father that is not my father, dogs playing with them and being protected and left behind by the beautiful hermaphrodite. The hermaphrodite, a mythological name that phonetically sounds like a sister or a brother in Spanish language.

This series has been the most difficult to explain and to talk about. Somehow the meanings are deeply symbolical rooted in an unconscious way. But these are some self-considerations of them. And for sure my project in process must be developing more images about these elements.
